Religious Thoughts
Does your life have a purpose? One of today's greatest prob-
lems is the purposelessness of human existence. Are you one
of those who is saying, "I just can't see any reason for my
being. What am I for? DoI really have any reason for living?"
Our modern civilization with its punch card and computeriz-
ed systems has contributed to this depersonalization of indi-
viduals. It is hard to attach much importance to a number
in somebody's computer. Individuals aren't needed because
macMnes do all of the work. Then there is that fellow who
likes to think of himself as just an animal and the descendant
of one. I seriously doubt that the lower species would claim
kin to us if they had a say about it. This feeling of despair
on the part of multitudes of people is the result of a society
that has depersonalized people and put the major importance
on things and secular achievements.
The problem is the depersonalization of the human person
which destroys the integrity and dignity of humanpersonality.
Individuals like to feel that they are needed and that they are ....
somebody. In fact, you must feel this in order to hope for a
brighter tomorrow. Today's culture, however, economy, edu-
cation, and sometimes even religion tells you that you are
nobody. Thiscausespeopletoexclaim,"Iwishthat I had never
been born," or "Sometimes I wish that I was dead."
In God's Book you are somebody. You are created by the
loving hand of the Almighty in His own image. As a result of
this, you bear the visage oftheAlmighty.Just think about that
for a moment. The Bible says that you are God's special
handiwork, the crown of His creation. You were created with
dignity and honor and crowned with glory. You have the spe-
cial privilege of an audience with the King of the Universe by
Just lifting to Him your voice or your thoughts wherever
you may be. God says, "I love youW He said it awful loud, so
that the entire world for alltimecould hear it. His Son, Jesus
Christ, died for you on a cross that you might live forever
if you will trust Him.
In God's Book you are morethan an animal; you are not just
a number on an index card in the filing cabinet, but a real
live person with a name. God knows your name. He knows
exactly how tall you are. He has numbered the very hairs of
your head. He has set the number of the months and years of
your life. He made you for a purpose. Your existence has
reason and purpose behind it. You are not some lost cell
wondering in the great void of space. God knows you and knows
where you are right now. He knows your very thoughts and
the intent of your mind. You were created to love God and live
and move and have your being in Him. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIlllllllllll
The Bible tells us that we can miss God's purpose for our
lives (Rom. 3:23). The illustration used Is that of an archer
who fits an arrow to his bow, lets fly, and misses the target
completely. God tells you that you have missed the target
that He set for your life. You have missed the goal and pur-
pose for your existence. Find God's perfect will for your life
and you will be happy. Realize that God made just you spe-
cial. Seek the Lord and His purpose for your existence and
you will find the happiness you long for.
You are importantI You are special to God! GOd made youl
He wants you to love Him, and in loving Him, and serving
Him, you will find peace and happiness. You will discover
the integrity and dignity of your own life. You will find a rea-
son beyond yourself for living. You will find a purpose for
you as large as the Universe in which you live. Why not be-
lieve it? Why not try it?Just letgo and let God have your life!
You are a very special person to Him.
