Mr. Shults died at 9:50 a.m. on Sunday, September 11, 1994 at his Clarendon residence following a lengthy illness. He was born January 10, 1917 in Childress and came from Kress to Clarendon 34 years ago. He married Zelma Mac Manck on February 8, 1940 at Memphis and she preceded him in death on September 18, 1984. He had worked most of his life as a farmer and a rancher before his retirement. He was a Baptist. Survivors include one daughter, Sarah McCrary of Dumas; three sons, Bill Shuits of Albuquerque, New Mexico, James Shults of Campo, Colorado, Don Shuits of Clarendon; one brother, Tom Shults of Clarendon; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Martin Shults, Herman Shults, and J.D. Shults. Casket bearers were Jerry Montgomery, Daryl Montgomery, Milton Havens, San Thompson, Bobby Swearingen, and Bill Rus- sell. Hostesses were mem- bers of the social committee consisting of Susie Shields, Elvie Shields, Pearl Hermesmeyer and Norma Schwertner. Dorothy Whitaker led in prayer and a delicious meal was enjoyed by the members present. Susie Shields presented a humorous reading "All About Boys." Following he reading, a brief business meeting was conducted by President Thelma Shields. Attending the salad supper were Pearl Hermesmeyer, Dorothy Whitaker, Viola Bones, Susie Shields, Thelma Shields, Dikki Howell, Evelyn Mann, Virginia Christi, Helena Catoe, Norma Sehwertner, Elvie Shields, Hazel Brandon and Frleda Tucker. Hill Joins U.S. Army Rachelle Hill of Clarendon, Texas, has joined the U.S. Army. Sergeant Gary Wilson of the Army;# recruiting Station at 200 Westgate Parkway, Suite G-4, Amarillo, Texas, who recruited Ms. Hill, says she is scheduled to report November 2, 1994 to begin basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Ms. Hill has committed to four years' service and asked for advanced individual training as an Intelligence Analyst in Military Intelligence. Hill graduated from Clarendon High School and attended Clarendon College in Clarendon, Texas. She is the daughter of Alex E. Hill of Wise, Virginia and Sonyia Q. Hntson of Clarendon.
