Greenbelt Districts will bt4hcdd Saturday, November 3, on the
Campus of Clarendon Ctzlk'ge. The winners of these two districts
will compete in tbe 'm-Contes Saturday, November 10 in
Plainview. The State Comest will be November 17, at Sam
Houston State. The coatests Will be: Senior Chapter Conducting,
Junior Chapter Condmctitg, Senior Farm Skills, Junior Farm
Skills. Greenhand Qu and Farm Radio Broadcasting.
The Top-O-Texas i)is¢: is made up of the following FFA
Chapters: Allison, .ltdse, Canadian, Darrouzett,
Follett, Gruver, MtLMabetie, Pampa, Perryton,

The District Leadership contests will be under the direction of
Jerry Hawkins, Chairman of the Agriculture Division, Clarendon
College and Mr. Walter Labay, Area I Supervisor from
Plainview.
Approximately 350 high school students are expected to
participate in this competitive lvent at Clarendon College.
Farm bureau plans chili supper
,The Donley County Farm Bureau President, Lee Shaller,
would like to inform all members that the Farm Bureau will have
its Annual Chili Supper on November 5th, at 7:00 p.m. in the
Lelia Lake Community Center.
The ladies are asked to bring a pie. Everything else will be
furnished.
The order of business will be the annual election of officers for
the coming yefir.
Monday, October 22, Veterans Day, a good crowd showed for
golf. The ladies playday was well attended and there was quite a
number of out-of-town green fees players on hand.
Wednesday night was the night for the "Meet the Pro" party
which went over real big. London and Kay White expressed their
appreciation to all of the one hundred and thirty plus who came
to meet them and enjoy the party., If you are not already playing
golf, London can help you get started properly with ease. Just let
him-]ow .at you are interested.
JulPa'eck entertained a Iidge foursome at the club on
Saturday afternoon. Several club members were seen at the
Tech-SMU game Saturday.
We expect a lot of golfers to take advantage of this pretty
weather and hope that we can play every day right up to
Christmas time. Regardless of the weather, just remember we
have other facilities besides golf for all members to enjoy at the
clubhouse right through the winter.

The Donley County Museum Committee, headed by
J. Lewis, Jr. will host an autograph party in the Hospitality
of the Farmers State Bank on Sunday afternoon,
from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Part of the proceeds from the
book "The Lucky Moores" will go to the committee.
The author, Elsie Bass Guthrie, will be present. She
long-time Memphis teacher, Texas born and
Clarendon College, Texas Tech University and Texas
University, before earning her masters degree at West
State University. Currently she is the vocational
coordinator for the Memphis High School. She has been
Texas Teacher of the Year and one of the ten top teachers
U.S.
The story is about the extraordinary and lucky
Moores of Grossland, Texas. It is the story of an
struggle to make a home for her brothers and sisters in
seemingly insurmountable odds.
The conflict between Melissa Moore and her
aspirations for her brothers and sisters versus her
